Pancake House - Taco-All-You-Can Wednesdays

Pancake House - Taco-All-You-Can Wednesdays
(Quezon Avenue)

Me and Const partook of Pancake House’s Taco All You Can Wednesdays promotion last Wednesday. I’m actually skipping some reviews in the backlog because this promo is only for the month of June, 2018. Pancake House, for the uninformed, specializes in pancakes. Now that I mention it, we haven’t done a good review of the place. Beloved and myself, and sometimes with her family, go here to eat not their pancakes, but their other food like their pan-fried chicken, salisbury steak, and pastas. Their pancakes, ironically, is pretty low on our choice here, and we often go for their waffles instead. Oh, and their tacos are pretty good too, which is why Const and I went ahead and tried out this promotion.

Gloria Maris - Revisited

Gloria Maris - Revisited
(Gateway)

Beloved and I revisited Gloria Maris at Gateway almost a month ago. We celebrated the eve of our anniversary here. It’s been almost five years since our first visit, and I am partly curious how inflation comes into play. Anyway, we went here since we were somewhat craving for seafood and this was one of the few decent places in Cubao that we know of.

Botejyu

Botejyu
(Vertis North)

Beloved, myself, and a couple of friends ate at Botejyu a few weeks ago. This Japanese place is one of the few places open at Vertis Ginza, the Japanese “section” of Vertis North. The restaurant features Osaka specialties, which I honestly don’t know much about. The place seemed intimidating which is why we haven’t tried this place before, but after a recommendation from another common friend, we decided to try it out.

Zubuchon

Zubuchon
(SM Megamall)

Beloved and I had dinner at Zubuchon a couple of weeks ago. This happened because I was annoyed with the queue for the bus and we were supposed to go home, towards Cubao area. This was also after when we already had dinner at nearby Shangri-La Plaza mall (part of which was chicharon). This lechon-specialty store is deemed inferior by Cebu friends, but based on other reviews we’ve watched, tourists seemed to like it better. For the uninformed, lechon is essentially whole pit-roasted pig—a specialty of the country. Seeing as it’s a rare time for both of us to be in Mandaluyong, where the closest Zubuchon is, we took the opportunity to try it out.

Tien Ma's

Tien Ma's
(Cubao)

Beloved and I had dinner at Tien Ma’s a couple of weeks ago. It’s our second time trying this place, with the first time being a not bad experience. Located at KIA Theater, right beside Tim Hortons, this Chinese/Taiwanese place serves dimsum, mami, and other Chinese viands that goes well with rice. It’s your typical Chinese place, really. What separates this place is the fact that most of their viands are priced at 200 Php, a bit below from your average similar place and yet manages to serve a similar amount.

Four Seasons Buffet & Hotpot

Four Seasons Buffet & Hotpot
(Cubao)

Beloved celebrated her birthday with me at Four Seasons Buffet & Hotpot located at the Manhattan Parkview in Cubao a couple of weeks ago. We’ve actually been here before, a lot of times already, in fact, and among the buffet places that offer a free-on-your-birthday promo, this is Beloved’s favorite. Ever since it opened a couple of years ago, we’ve celebrated Beloved’s birthday here two years running now.

Ling Nam

Ling Nam
(Banawe)

Beloved and I had dinner at Ling Nam a couple of weeks ago, during Good Friday. This was one of the few places opened at Banawe, where Beloved was, during that day. This Chinese dimsum/noodle place apparently is one of the mainstays of the place, and it has established some regulars, Beloved’s family included. Since choices were limited that day, it’s not too difficult a decision.

Livestock

Livestock
(Sgt. Esguerra Ave.)

Beloved and I had dinner at Livestock a couple of days ago. I’ve been craving for something unhealthy, something to make me younger recently, and Livestock’s famous crispy pata seemed to be a good candidate to fill that craving. We’ve been to this place before, but we didn’t have any good pictures due to bad lighting. Since our technology has improved, we were hopeful to try again. As the place was easily accessible from home, it wasn’t a problem to revisit.

Costa Coffee

Costa Coffee
(Eastwood)

Beloved and I had coffee at Costa Coffee Eastwood branch last week. This coffee chain might be my current favorite among chains, not counting “third wave” independent coffee shops or fast food coffees (which, honestly, some are not half-bad). After participating in SGD Coffee’s Coffee Appreciation Workshop, we feel more qualified to review and appreciate places that serve good coffee. For me, this imported British coffee chain that we frequent a lot is one of them.

Nara Kimbob

Nara Kimbob
(Aurora Boulevard)

Beloved and I had dinner at Nara Kimbob a few days ago. This place is actually a place that we usually ignore in some food courts. It recently (about a year, maybe?) opened its own place at Aurora Boulevard near Anonas Station where I reside. We’ve also been in this place quite a few times already due to its proximity and price.
