Grills & Sizzles

Grills & Sizzles
(Examiner)

Beloved and I had dinner at Grills & Sizzles a couple of nights ago. This steakhouse is located at Examiner street, a few walks away from Quezon Ave. Beloved and her family frequents this place because, one, it’s pretty close to home and, two, they offer a buffet on weekdays at a pretty affordable price. She also tells me that this place is pretty empty despite the said promo. Despite that, she claims that the steak here is very good. Because Beloved’s family goes here every week, we never really had a good opportunity to go here lest Beloved cares to gain some additional unwanted pounds. Because last week’s storm, they weren’t able to go, and, consequently, we were able to.

Sambo Kojin

Sambo Kojin
(Eastwood)

Ah, it’s been a while… again. No, I haven’t gotten paid yet from any of my apparent sources of income. But because yesterday was a special day for Beloved and I, we decided to rummage our savings to eat somewhere special as well. We went to Eastwood City Walk’s somewhat newly opened restaurant Sambo Kojin.

Rodic's

Rodic's
(UP Diliman Shopping Center)

So, I promised some affordable places that deserve either fame or notoriety. Here’s one of them. Being a UP Student since birth, and being a grandchild of a former UP Diliman employee who lives in the Campus, Rodic’s is practically my Thursday diner. I’ve experienced Rodic’s since it still served its signiture silogs (fried rice with egg) on their signiture metal plates when they were still just over 20 Php. If you’re a UP Diliman student and haven’t eaten here or at least heard of it, you’re either a freshman or a liar.

BRGR: The Burger Project

BRGR: The Burger Project
(Maginhawa Street)

First off, Happy New Year to my readers. Thank you very much for visiting, and I appreciate all current and more future visits. I know me and Beloved aren’t really professionals or anything, using only our cellphone cameras to take photos and my lengthy or Beloved’s chirpy writing, and we just do this for fun (and maybe some loose change). Still, we appreciate it that you find time to read our reviews, and we promise to take time to do more, and then some.

Kanin Club

Kanin Club
(UP-Ayala Technohub)

On the same day we ate the notorious Lechon Pizza from Pizza Hut, me and my friends continued on and had dinner at Kanin Club with a larger company. I’ve heard plenty of positive feedback from this place, but was never inclined to try it because of the first word. I’m not a rice lover, period. Because of the name, I expected rice to be the specialty. However, a friend insists that the Crispy Dinuguan here is a must try. And because it was a pretty large company, I decided to tag along.

Bite Club

Bite Club
(Katipunan)

Beloved and I had dinner at Bite Club last night. You know how I always mention how every other burger joint I’ve reviewed has a variation of the phrase “isn’t the biggest burger I’ve had”? Well, this place offers it. I’ve been a fleeting customer of this place, more so when I was still living at Project 4.

World Class Persian Kebab

World Class Persian Kebab
(Tomas Morato corner E. Rodriguez)

After the event we went to last night, me and Beloved and our friends passed by World Class Persian Kebab. I’ve never heard of this place before even though we’ve basically eaten at every affordable place at Tomas Morato. My friend says this is the best place for Persian food at extremely affordable prices as well. He also mentions that this place is open 24 hours. When we got there, I realize why I’ve never seen this place before. It is located at the corner of Tomas Morato and E. Rodriguez, the side of Tomas Morato we have little reason to go to. Perhaps this visit to World Class Persian Kebab would give us reason now.

Gumbo

Gumbo
(SM North EDSA)

Beloved and I ate at Gumbo last night. This is a New Orleans style restaurant in SM North EDSA the Block which specializes in, well, gumbo and the likes. I’ve eaten here a couple of times, and at both times, I found my food a bit spicier than I would’ve liked it. But it was okay—I guess that’s what’s New Orleans cooking is about. In addition to the spiciness, all their food seems to come from the sea, if not sausage. Beloved and her family frequent this place because they love seafood. Anyway, because beloved was craving for crab, we decided to go here.

Friuli Trattoria

Friuli Trattoria
(Maginhawa Street)

Beloved and I ate at Friuli Trattoria for dinner. Yes, I know I said it’ll be a while before our next nomnom adventure. But because Starcraft II’s Southeast Asia server lags like hell, it didn’t really take plenty of my time. Anyway, Friuli is an Italian joint found in Maginhawa St., one of the closest pizza places from home. It’s also our family’s restaurant, so I might be a bit biased. I hope you trust that I won’t be despite saying that this is my favorite Italian place, as I’ll try to back that claim up. I’ve basically tasted everything on the menu, but recently, they’ve renovated and added a lot of brewed coffee-based drinks on the menu. It’s also been a while since we went here, so we did.

Banchetto

Banchetto
(Ortigas)

Beloved and I went with a company of friends to Banchetto last night. Banchetto is a once-a-week food fair located at Emerald Road, Ortigas, on Saturday 0:00 hours up to 11:00 am, and yes, that’s Friday 12mn. We’ve wanted to go here for the longest time, but beloved’s schedule didn’t allow us to do so until today.
