Kimono Ken

Kimono Ken
(Tomas Morato)

Beloved and I ate at Kimono Ken last night. This is a Japanese resto, which you can probably guess from its name, at Tomas Morato. We didn’t plan on eating here, but the restaurant we were planning to go to was closed on a Monday, and so was the next one we were planning on going to. It also wasn’t the first time we ate at this restaurant, although this was the first time at this branch. I don’t really remember anything spectacular from this resto apart from their expensive (although somewhat good) sashimi which I vowed never to try again even if I have cravings. In addition, I cannot remember what else I’ve ordered here, so I guess it’ll be pretty fresh apart from the sashimi fiasco. Anyway, due to the circumstances and hunger, we ended up here.

YakiMIX - Revisited

YakiMIX - Revisited
(Tomas Morato)

Beloved and I ate at YakiMIX last Saturday for lunch. We were supposed to go there the night before because it was my birthday. We didn’t take the risk of going because it was pretty late at night when we prepared, so we delayed this date for the next day. We came in about fifteen minutes before it opens (which is at 11:00 AM). I was pretty excited because of unlimited sashimi and bacon, but I also decided for myself to try out their cooked food. Oh, if you can’t understand what I’m talking about, kindly read my review of the last time we went here.

Teriyaki Boy

Last night, beloved and I ate at Teriyaki Boy. I doubt that most of you don’t know or haven’t heard of this resto. For those who don’t, this is a typical Japanese one which you have probably figured out from its name. However, I’ll be upfront with you: I dislike Teriyaki Boy. Not that their food is bad, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s so-so. Their prices aren’t that unreachable as well, but it’s still one of those higher-priced ones. In fact, because of their prices, I have yet to try their teriyaki because it’s one of the more expensive ones in their menu. They do have items within reach, and because it was one of the closest from where we were last night, we decided to eat here.

Omakase - Revisited III

Omakase - Revisited III
(Il Terrazzo, Tomas Morato)

Last night, beloved and I ate at Omakase. It’s been a while since we last ate here, and since it was a somewhat special day, we decided to celebrate by going there again. Also, we chose to go here instead of YakiMIX since beloved wasn’t hungry enough for buffet. Because it was a Saturday, we expected there to be a queue, and, as expected, there was. It wasn’t a long wait compared to the one we had to endure at YakiMIX, and since we are sure of the quality of the food, it didn’t really bother us. We were sure to order some kind of maki here, as we have concluded in our two visits that this is indeed their specialty.

Bubble Tea

Last night, beloved and I ate at Bubble Tea. If you’ve read my last review on this resto, you’ll know that we’re pretty much regulars. However, the Bubble Tea we visited was the newly-opened one at Tomas Morato. It’s been a while since our last visit to this chain, so why not?

Kozui Green Tea - Revisited

Before I start, I’ll apologize since my previous post was long as it is. I do hope you read it though. To compensate, and since this was a pretty short stay anyway, this one will be short.

YakiMIX

YakiMIX
(Tomas Morato)

Beloved and I went to YakiMIX for dinner a while ago. I’ve been clamoring to go here ever since I saw some pictures posted by some of my contacts of food from the place. We had knowledge that this was a Japanese buffet specializing in sushi and barbecue (yakiniku). We also had knowledge of how much we’d be spending, which is a little over 600 for the unlimited food and drinks. We also had knowledge of what time it opens, which was from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for dinner. What we didn’t have knowledge of was how popular this place was and that the queue time would be an hour at least. After going to the nearby Kozui and Baang coffee shop to kill some time and a bit of our starvation, we went back to find out the queue was extended. There were many other patrons waiting besides us, but luckily, since there was only two of us, we got accommodated for at 8 p.m.—almost two hours from the time we came. Was it worth the wait?

Sumo Sam

Sumo Sam
(Trinoma)

Last night, beloved and I ate at Sumo Sam. Beloved was craving for sashimi and sukiyaki last night, and our choice was this or another somewhat-newly opened restaurant called Kimpura. We decided to go here because the latter was a bit intimidating with most of their patrons wearing a formal attire. This newly-opened Japanese restaurant apparently specializes in “steak, seafood, and sushi”. We did manage to get a peek of their menu, and saw that their prices was way steeper than the usual Japanese resto. However, hoping quality and quantity was better, perhaps on par with that of Sakura, we went in.

Ariake

Last night, beloved and I went to Ariake. If it wasn’t apparent yet, this is a Japanese restaurant. We were deciding between this and another Japanese restaurant on the same street, but went here because we had to cross to get to the other one. We sort of just randomly went here based on reviews we’ve read and the location of the resto—which is just a few steps from Tomas Morato.

Sushi-Ya

Sushi-Ya
(Tomas Morato)

Since our craving for raw fish wasn’t sated from the last time we went out, beloved and I decided to try out Sushi-Ya today. We always see this store open at the wee hours in the night when we get hungry and pass by the McDonald’s at Tomas Morato. We always get scared to try it out because we’re unsure if raw fish would still be fresh in the said hours of the night. We’re also unsure if they’re really open. When we got in, we saw that their service hours run until 4:30 AM on Mondays to Saturdays.
