Inggo Noms...

A few nights ago, Beloved and I had dinner at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. Since it’s a pretty lengthy name, I’ll just reduce it to Crystal Jade. This Singaporean-Chinese restaurant is located at Greenhills, just outside VirraMall. Since it has “Xiao Long Bao” in its name, I assumed it was their specialty, and their posters outside support my claim. I have no idea what “La Mian” was, though. Anyway, since we happened to be in the area and this place is amongst the only ones unique here from elsewhere, we decided to give it a shot.

Jumping the Bandwagon, I finally decided to write about the latest craze: Selecta/Unilever’s freshly-imported Magnum Ice Cream. A few disclaimers: I am not a dessert lover. I do, however, fancy vanilla-flavored ice cream over other flavors. I’ve been reserving this post until I manage to taste all three varieties, and since I got treated again today, I can finally surely say that this ~60 Php Ice cream bar is simply over-hyped.

After our wonderful dinner at Cyma, Beloved wanted to have dessert, so we passed by the newly opened Gelatissimo at Trinoma, just a small walk away from Cyma. Because I said this was a dessert and its name pretty much says it, perhaps I don’t need to say what this store specializes in. But I will. Gelatissimo is a gelato cafe. And it’s not just the usual small-stall gelato shop or ones found within an Italian resto. This really is a cafe. This is the Starbucks of gelato. Of course, being the Starbucks of gelato, I expected this to be pretty expensive as well. However, since we did spend a bit on Cyma, I guessed spending a bit more on Gelatissimo wouldn’t hurt, so I let Beloved have her way.

When Inggo asked me what I want as my reward for passing my thesis, I answered “ice cream”. So we looked for an ice cream shop at SM North Sky Garden yesterday, after dinner at Koryo. We settled for Frostbite because I was too tired to walk. Frostbite uses the brand “Fruits in Icecream” for their creations. They have Coffee Bun with Icecream, bibingka, waffles and the like. I chose their Caramelo bowl for 90 Php.

Last Friday, Beloved and I had dinner at Teriyaki Boy SM North Annex. Now, if you’ve been following our food adventures, you’ll probably wonder why we went here despite having terrible experiences in this particular chain. Apparently, Teriyaki Boy’s SM North Annex branch is having a “Sushi Fest” promo wherein you get to eat as much sushi as you want for only 250 Php. Despite not knowing the quality of Teriyaki Boy’s sushi, we risked going there because of how much of a steal the promo is. We also had to go on Friday because the promo runs only on weekdays.

A couple of nights ago, beloved and I had dinner at Oma. Oma is a semi-Filipino bar and restaurant at one of the junction streets of Tomas Morato. Why I call it semi-Filipino, read on. Anyway, Beloved has been bugging me to go here after learning the names of the two soups in their menu. However, every time we pass by, it’s either under renovation, closed because it’s a Monday, or still not open because the sun’s still up. Finally, after deciding to eat at Burger King, we happen to pass by and see it open so took the opportunity to do so.

Last night, beloved and I ate at Teriyaki Boy. I doubt that most of you don’t know or haven’t heard of this resto. For those who don’t, this is a typical Japanese one which you have probably figured out from its name. However, I’ll be upfront with you: I dislike Teriyaki Boy. Not that their food is bad, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s so-so. Their prices aren’t that unreachable as well, but it’s still one of those higher-priced ones. In fact, because of their prices, I have yet to try their teriyaki because it’s one of the more expensive ones in their menu. They do have items within reach, and because it was one of the closest from where we were last night, we decided to eat here.

Because we weren’t able to eat dessert at Seoul Garden, we went to The White Hat. Well, it was beloved who said that she wanted dessert. For some reason, she insisted on having yogurt even though her last experience in fyi wasn’t a good one. Maybe she’s still clinging on the hopes that this one will somehow taste like Qoola. Yet, even though I say that almost all yogurt should taste sour, and even though she hates such sourness, she still insists that she wants one. I give in. Because this was the closest one, we went here.

A couple of days ago, beloved and I ate at Seoul Garden. This was one of the first restaurants to open during the opening of the brand new Annex of SM North EDSA. From it’s name, it’s safe to assume that it’s Korean. What kind exactly, I wasn’t too sure since every time we pass by, I see there’s only a few people in to pique my interest. However, I notice there were plenty of dividers inside, so I couldn’t be too sure. I grow curiouser each time we pass by, especially after our wonderful experience on YakiMIX and realizing that Seoul Garden was a do-it-yourself-barbecue-and-hotpot-buffet. The day before yesterday was our chance to try it out.

A couple of days ago, beloved and I had breakfast at The Breakfast Club. Contrary to its name, it’s not really a club where membership is required to enter. We just randomly Googled this one up since we were hungry, it was morning, and we didn’t want to eat at McDonald’s. We also had no idea of its location, but it was somewhere at Katipunan Ave.. We thought it was in the inner streets, since I’ve never seen it before even though I pass by the avenue pretty often. Apparently, it’s located at the former place of Racks, nearby Bo’s Coffee. We had doubts at first, since the hallway leading to it was pretty obscured. Also, when we got up, the sign said it was an Xbox rental place. However, upon entering, we realized The Breakfast Club was just a part of this.
