Chicken Charlie

Chicken Charlie
(Katipunan)

Beloved and I had dinner, or breakfast in my case, at Chicken Charlie. This fried chicken place is often compared to BonChon Chicken; its followers say that this is the original one, the first incarnation a long time ago at Banawe. I apologize beforehand for comparing Chicken Charlie to BonChon throughout this review, but since they are quite similar, it cannot be helped. Anyway, I haven’t been to this place before, but from what I’ve heard, the chicken here is pretty good.

Old Oven Art Cafe

Old Oven Art Cafe
(Katipunan Extension)

Before I begin, please note that this was a Valentines promo, and I’m not sure if this will be available in the future. That aside, read on.

Beloved and I celebrated an early Valentines at Old Oven Art Cafe. Honestly, this was done on a whim. Beloved had “liked” their Facebook page because she was interested in their cheesesteak sandwiches. She then saw them advertising this special menu for two starting February 12. Since it included risotto (which Beloved wanted to try) and rib-eye steak (which I wanted), it was pretty much a done deal and we made a reservation, despite knowing this place is a bit inaccessible for commuters like us.

Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe

(Regis Center, Katipunan)

Beloved and I had dinner at Mom and Tina’s Bakery Cafe. Located at Beloved’s new favorite food and drink street, in the same building of BonChon Chicken and Moshi Moshi, this cafe had a welcoming atmosphere to it when we first passed by. It reminded me of Mary Grace, where we had a wonderful experience. Hoping to get a similar one, we decided to try it out.

Moshi Moshi

Moshi Moshi
(Regis Center, Katipunan)

Beloved and I had dinner at Moshi Moshi last night. This Japanese food joint is located beside the BonChon Chicken at Katipunan, at relatively newly-opened Regis Center. Beloved had already researched this place beforehand, and got pretty excited upon learning that this place specializes in donburi, or rice toppings. To be honest, I can’t think of a place that specialize in just Japanese rice toppings, though I can think of other non-Japanese exclusive rice topping places. After learning of their prices from their Facebook page, I thought it was pretty affordable, so I had no fear trying this place out.

BonChon Chicken

BonChon Chicken
(Regis Center, Katipunan)

Me and family had dinner at BonChon Chicken last night. I’ve only recently heard of this place, which apparently recently also sprung up everywhere for some reason. All of my loved ones who have tried this place say that it’s fantastic. Mom had heard that their chicken is addictive, and they claim to be the best chicken in some parts of America. However, from what I’ve heard, this place is apparently a Korean fried chicken place. A pretty accessible one opened up in a somewhat newly-opened building at Katipunan Ave., and that was where we ate.

Bite Club

Bite Club
(Katipunan)

Beloved and I had dinner at Bite Club last night. You know how I always mention how every other burger joint I’ve reviewed has a variation of the phrase “isn’t the biggest burger I’ve had”? Well, this place offers it. I’ve been a fleeting customer of this place, more so when I was still living at Project 4.

Yellow Cab

Yellow Cab
(Katipunan)

Beloved and I had dinner at Yellow Cab’s Katipunan branch last night. This time, she’s the one in doubt whether or not I should write a review about this, since this is another well-known pizzeria, perhaps third to Pizza Hut and Shakey’s, and perhaps tied in third for Domino’s. There’s a Yellow Cab branch practically anywhere, at all malls, all major roads, and other populous area. Despite that, I still find Yellow Cab special, and perhaps my favorite popular pizza place among the three I’ve mentioned. I love their pizzas for the oiliness of their cheese, which I find much more flavorful compared to the other two. However, I don’t just go here for their pizzas, and the reason we went last night was because I was craving for this other reason. To find out, read on.

The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club
(Katipunan)

A couple of days ago, beloved and I had breakfast at The Breakfast Club. Contrary to its name, it’s not really a club where membership is required to enter. We just randomly Googled this one up since we were hungry, it was morning, and we didn’t want to eat at McDonald’s. We also had no idea of its location, but it was somewhere at Katipunan Ave.. We thought it was in the inner streets, since I’ve never seen it before even though I pass by the avenue pretty often. Apparently, it’s located at the former place of Racks, nearby Bo’s Coffee. We had doubts at first, since the hallway leading to it was pretty obscured. Also, when we got up, the sign said it was an Xbox rental place. However, upon entering, we realized The Breakfast Club was just a part of this.

Kamirori

Kamirori
(Katipunan)

Beloved and I spent our Valentines dinner at Kamirori. This restaurant was a childhood favorite of mine, but I can barely remember their food since the last time I went here has been over a decade. The first Kamirori at Katipunan ave., which our family used to freqeunt, was gone. They apparently moved somewhere at the inner streets of the avenue, and since, I haven’t been able to return. When the Petron Square at Katipunan opened, Kamirori opened a branch there as well, giving me a flash of childhood memories and cravings. If you haven’t figured it out yet from its name, Kamirori is Japanese. I have no idea what it means, and if you ask me, I’ll answer, from my little knowledge of the language, God from “Kami” and little girl from “rori”—Little girl god.
